Public Utilities Commission
February 19, 2008

 

The Public Utilities Commission met in regular session with Commissioner Mike Floersch presiding. Present wer Commissioner Gary Griffiths, Commissioner Don Button, Supt. of Utilities Bill Callaway and Mayor Sharon Brown.

The minutes of the meeting held February 4, 2008 was presented for approval. There being no objections, they were approved as read.

The Appropriations Ordinance No. 1923 (Payroll) was presented for approval. It was moved by Commissioner Gary Griffiths and seconded by Commissioner Don Button to pay the claims. The vote was all yeas.

The Appropriations Ordinance No. 1924 (Bills) was presented for approval. It was moved by Commissioner Don Button and seconded by Commissioner Mike Floersch to pay the claims. The vote was all yeas.

It was discussed with Mayor Brown the concerns of the Commission with the development agreeement at Center Heights Housing Development. Mayor Brown will ask her legal advisor to make clear in the agreement that a designated legal easement for a 10' utilitity easement be included before the Commission will sign off on the agreement.

Commissioner Don Button reported to the Commission that a professor at K-State has been contacted by an acquaintance of his at K-State with a possibility of his class doing a Utility Park improvement plan. The professor has yet to contact Public Utilities.

Commissioner Gary Griffiths reported to the Commission on the FEMA meeting he attended with Distribution & Line Supt. George Rice and Lineman Scott Glaves. Office Manager Liana Hess gave the Commissiion a report on her visit to Greenburg, KS. and what she learned about their experience with FEMA from their tornado. Supt. Callaway reported he is researching leasing a digger truck and a small size bucket truck. He will also be receiving papers soon for joining KPP's Mutual Aid program.

Supt. Callaway reported more financial figures have been sent to Ranson Financial to try to figure how th eWater Treatment Plant can go into building phase since the cost of materials have dramatically increased due to inflation.

The Commission viewed a customer's complaint regarding a service line location and pole.

There being no futher business, the Commission Meeting adjourned.
